About me

Hi, I’m Karli Avila, a 17-year-old Junior at Liberty Ranch High School in Galt, Ca. I’m super excited to be part of the Herald 4-H Club, and this year, I’ll be showing my pig, Poncho, at the Sacramento County Fair! I’m excited to share that I’ll be auctioning off my pig on May 24th at the Junior Livestock Auction. I’d be honored if you would consider attending and possibly bidding on Poncho. Your support would mean a lot!

A little bit about my pig- he’s a Hampshire Barrow (male). I’ve been working with him every day for over 4 months now, getting him ready for the fair. I’ve spent hours walking him, and it’s been a huge learning experience for me. Not only has he taught me to be responsible, but it’s also helped me become more confident and driven. I’ve learned how to budget for unexpected costs and really feel what it’s like to raise a show pig. The money I earn from selling him will help me buy more pigs in the future, and any extra will go straight into my college savings.

This is my first year participating in Herald 4-H. The last 2 previous years, I was showing with Liberty Ranch High School FFA. Both programs have taught me a ton of valuable life skills like time management and communication. It’s a great experience with lots of opportunities. I attend monthly 4-H community club meetings in addition to monthly swine meetings where I build my knowledge and skills. From there, I apply what I learned to my everyday routine with Poncho.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! If you have any questions about my pig or the auction, feel free to email me at karli.avila09@gmail.com. I’ve included some important dates below that might be helpful. If you’re not able to attend the auction but would still like to support my project, you can do so using the link below to do an add on. Thank you for your consideration and support!
